Comments: Subgenus Akodon. Populations assigned to this species had been formerly identified as A. serrensis (e.g., Liascovich and Reig, 1989), but karyotypic and morphometric separation from that form clarified by Christoff et al. (2000). Similar in size to members of the A. mollis species group (sensu Hershkovitz, 1990c), but Christoff et al.
