The original description included 2 species (A. sparsus and A. luteovarius), indicating the genus was considered masculine by the author, Dallas. However, the evident etymology is: an- (Gr., not) + ischys (Gr. feminine, meaning strong). It appears that, according to ICZN Art. 30.1.2, this must be treated as a feminine genus, despite the original usage
