Rosevear (1974) believed that no one had advanced any "reasoned argument" for combining Galeriscus with Bdeogale, and followed Schoutenden (1945) and Hill and Carter (1941) who considered them distinct; all have agreed that jacksoni and nigripes are sister taxa
