Concerning North American records that are referrable to another species, Pelham (2008:431) notes of Boloria napaea (Hoffmansegg, 1804), "This name was widely employed for what is now known as Boloria alaskensis (Holland, 1900)(e.g.. L. Miller and F. Brown, 1981: 147). Crosson du Cormier (1977) revised this group and excluded the taxon napaea from the Nearctic region." It is not clear from the materials at hand which subgenus Boloria napaea should be assigned to
