Pelham (2008:215) notes of Callophrys dumetorum (Boisduval, 1852), "As discussed by A. Warren (2005), C. dumetorum and C. sheridanii are apparently conspecific." Nevertheless, he still lists Callophrys dumetorum (Boisduval, 1852) and Callophrys sheridanii (W. H. Edwards, 1877) as separate valid species (sheridanii with several subspecies as well). Barring action by the International Commission on Zoological Nomenclature, if they are conspecific the senior name is dumetorum
