Comments: Arranged as a subspecies of C. laucha by Hershkovitz (1962), but others have retained tener and C. laucha as distinct species (Cabrera, 1961; Mares et al., 1989a; Moojen, 1952; Olds, 1988). Karyotypic identity (2n = 66, FN = 66) clarified by Bonvicino and Almeida (2000), who expanded upon its morphological and ecological separation from C. expulsus.
