Comments: Arranged as a subspecies of C. laucha by Hershkovitz (1962), but others have retained tener and C. laucha as distinct species (Cabrera, 1961; Mares et al., 1989a; Moojen, 1952; Olds, 1988). Karyotypic identity (2n = 66, FN = 66) clarified by Bonvicino and Almeida (2000), who expanded upon its morphological and ecological separation from C. expulsus. Anderson (1997) considered identification of the Bolivian specimens as tentative and advised further review of series presently allocated to C....
