Comments: Phloeomys Division. A Philippine Old Endemic in the same monophyletic group as Batomys and Carpomys (Musser and Heaney, 1992). Reviewed by Musser and Gordon (1981) and Musser et al. (1985). Phylogenetic analyses of complete mtDNA cytochrome b sequences for 13 of the 16 genera of endemic Philippine murines indicates Crateromys belongs in a clade with Batomys and Phloeomys (Jansa and Heaney, 2001). The tie to Phloeomys was suggested an an alternative hypothesis by Musser and Heaney (1992). Ex...
