Comments: A uniform group of bluish-gray shrews that exhibit a considerable geographic size variation; probably a composite group. Revised by Dippenaar and Meester (1989). Does not include macmillani, raineyi, and selina. In a biochemical comparison, specimens from Rwanda grouped outside all other African Crocidura studied (Maddalena, 1990)
