Pelham (2008:402) recognizes only the subspecies Cyllopsis pyracmon henshawi (W. H. Edwards, 1876) within the covered region (North America). Tye type locality of Cyllopsis pyracmon (Butler, 1867) is Oaxaca, Mexico, suggesting that the typical subspecies is found only outside the North American region
