Comments: Hershkovitz (1992a) restricted the Didelphinae to the genera Chironectes, Didelphis, Philander, and Lutreolina. Hershkovitz (1997) further restricted the Didelphinae by establishing Chironectinae and Lutreolininae for Chironectes and Lutreolina, respectively
