Comment:
Beckman (Orthoptera Species File Online, 2004) states that "Subfamily Dolichopodaine was created in this database as a consequence of the ICZN ruling that Dolichopoda- is the stem of Dolichopoda. Dolichopodainae has not been used in a publication." The ICZN ruling in question is Opinion 1998 (Case 3123), entitled "DOLICHOPODINI Brunner von Wattenwyl, 1888 (Insecta, Grylloptera): spelling emended to DOLICHOPODAINI, so removing the homonymy with DOLICHOPODIDAE Latreille, 1809 (Insecta, Diptera)" (Bulletin of Zoological Nomenclature, Volume 59, Part 2)
