Pelham (2008:428) notes of Erionota torus Evans, 1941, "Kawazoé and Wakabayashi (1976: 310-311) stated that this taxon, not E. thrax (Linnaeus, 1767), occurs in Hawaii and Guam. Snyder and Kumon (1999) and Fukuda and Nicho (2001: 29) demonstrated that E. thrax is indeed the species occurring in Hawaii, not E. torus"
