Although it is not yet fully resolved, it appears that Torrey named "Clytia bakeri" in 1904 (1906?), and "Phialium bakeri" in 1909, and that these represent the same animal (though perhaps different life stages of it). More research is apparently needed. See also comment in Cairns et al. (2002)
