Park (1975) notes that Gaetanus simplex Brodsky 1950 (not Wollfenden 1905) had been found "to be synonymous with G. intermedius Campbell," but then goes on to coin the new name Gaetanus campbellae Park 1975 as a replacement for G. intermedius Campbell 1930 (a junior secondary homonym). The senior available name is G. simplex Brodsky 1950, and the replacement name was unnecessary
