Comment:
According to Stekolnikov (2021: 9), although some have 'argued for the priority of Walchiinae Ewing, 1946 over Gahrliepiinae Womersley, 1952', the latter 'was proposed by Womersley (1952) as a substitute name for Walchiinae, because its type genus, Walchia, was considered by him as a synonym of Gahrliepia.' Although that action would have been unnecessary under the current International Code of Zoological Nomenclature, it indicates in Articles 40.2 & 40.2.1 that such names proposed before 1961 are to be retained with their own authorship and year, and they take the priority of the name they replaced. Thus Gahrliepiinae Womersley, 1952 is considered senior to Walchiinae Ewing, 1946, and if in prevailing use (as Stekolnikov argues) it must not be replaced again by Walchiinae
