Graphiurus walterverheyeni Holden and Levine, 2009 was not explicitly placed in a subgenus of Graphiurus in its original publication, but as it is decribed as 'the possible morphological and phylogenetic counterpart of G. crassicaudatus', it is here treated in subgenus Claviglis with G. crassicaudatus (Jentink, 1888)
