Fall (1922:285) said: 'This is the species that LeConte assumed to be the limbatus of Say, although he admits not having seen any examples from Georgia or Florida, the localities from which Say's types came.' He ends up (p. 306) treating LeConte's usage as a misidentification/misapplication of Say's 'limbatus' in synonymy under his new species
