Comment:
In Maa's 1964 review of Old World Polyctenidae (where subfamilies were first used, and genera allocated as shown in a key), the genera Adroctenes and Hypoctenes were included in subfamily Hesperocteninae, a stance followed in Schuh & Weirauch (2020:395-389). Between these works, most publications (e.g., Ryckman & Casdin 1977, Ryckman & Sjogren 1980, Dick & Bindokas 2007, Amarga & Yap 2017) have placed those genera in subfamily Polycteninae. There doesn't seem to have been any comment about this difference in these various works, so for the moment ITIS is following the world checklists in placing those genera in Polycteninae
