Comments: Considered monotypic by Hayman and Hill (1971), but see J. E. Hill (1974a), who revised the genus. Kearney et al. (2002) suggested that Laephotis may nest within Neoromicia based on analysis of bacular structure, but this hypothesis needs to be tested with additional data sets
