The Leucocarbo albiventer/atriceps 'superspecies' is variously treated, e.g., in the IOU World Bird List (v2.9, Aug.2011) all the remaining subspecies are treated as full species, and L. albiventer itself is lumped into L. atricpes. For the moment, ITIS is following the treatment given on the Zoonomen website (2011), though the issue will be revisited as matters evolve
