Unresolved secondary homonymy is shown by Platnick (2012, online World Spider Catalog v12.5), where both Linyphantes pacificus (Banks, 1906) and Linyphantes pacificus Chamberlin & Ivie, 1942 are listed as valid species. The latter is a junior secondary homonym and includes the comment 'if [transfer of Bathyphantes pacifica Banks, 1906 to Linyphantes] is correct, this species will need a replacement name'
