Lewis (2006: 1236-1237) concludes that the two syntypes of Mimops occidentalis Chamberlin, 1914 'are an early adolescens stadium of a scolopendrid, too imature for the genus to be determined with certainty.' For that reason, this species is placed under Scolopendridae as incertae sedis (uncertain placement)
