Eschmeyer (personal communication, May 2004) suggests that Mugil pedaraki Valenciennes in Cuvier & Valenciennes 1836 may belong in the genus Valamugil, but since that combination is not reflected in the literature, for the moment ITIS is leaving pedaraki as Mugilidae incertae sedis
