Comment:
Wilson & Mittermeier (eds., 2019:388) state 'The second important concern that has been resolved recently is the systematic position of Myzopodidae relative to other bat families and its higher relationships at the superfamily level. Myzopodidae was previously placed in the superfamily Vespertilionoidea, and in 1998, it was considered part of of the superfamily Nataloidea. Subsequent work by different research groups, largely based on molecular analyses, showed that Myzopodidae was best placed as a basal member of the superfamily Noctilionoidea. Nevertheless, the structure of the female reproductive tract and placenta of Myzopoda are similar to members of the family Emballonuridae with noctilionoid or vespertilioniod lineages, which is in conflict with the molecular results'
