Comments: All species of Nesophontes appear to have survived the late Pleistocene extinction, at least five species are known to have existed into post-Columbian times. Morgan and Woods (1986) concluded that several species survived until the early part of the 18th century, and Fischer (1977) suggested an even more recent survival.
