Comments: Relegated to a subspecies of O. fulvescens by Goldman (1918) and so arranged thereafter (e.g., Hall, 1981). Bangs (1902), however, correctly recognized the sympatry of his new species with O. fulvescens, and Carleton and Musser (1995) clarified its morphological definition, regional synonymies, and geographic range
