Comment:
Larsen & Wilson (2002) note that Paratanaoidea "should be spelled Paratanaidoidea," as "the Latin genitive of Tanais should be Tanaidis, yielding a stem of 'tanaid-'." In the same paper, they also provide similar corrections for family-group names, though under the current International Code of Zoological Nomenclature (1999, Art. 29.5) such changes are not required, and the spelling in "prevailing usage... is to be maintained." Though suborder names are not goverened by the ICZN, Larsen (personal communication, September 2003) recommends retaining the traditional spelling for "consistency reasons"
