Plagiobothrys hystriculus: Comments
Comment:
US ESA: No longer a candidate species because believed to be extinct according to notice of review, as published in Federal Register Volume 58, Number 188, Pages 51144 - 51190, September 30, 1993
Comment:
Plagiobothrys hystriculus was presumed extinct until it was rediscovered in 2005, 114 years after its last confirmed observation. A subsequent search of the herbaria at the University of California, Davis (DAV) and the University of California/Jepson Herbaria (UC/JEPS) found additional Plagiobothrys hystriculus specimens collected prior to 2005 but misidentified as Plagiobothrys acanthocarpus (Piper) I.M. Johnston, P. greenei (Gray) I.M. Johnston, or P. glyptocarpus (Piper) I.M. Johnston
