Authorship of Subclass Podocopa is given in Martin & Davis (2001) as Müller, 1894. Dr. Eugen Kempf (email Dec. 2008) indicates it should be Sars 1866 (a work sometimes dated to 1865). However, authorship for names at the rank of subclass is not regulated under the ICZN. Given this confusion ITIS is omitting authorship for this name, for the moment, but will reconsider as a consensus emerges
