Comment:
The last name of Albertus Oschmann, the authority for Potamothrix bavaricus (originally, Tubifex bavaricus), is correctly spelled without an umlaut over the 'O'; Estonian oligochaetologist Dr. Tarmo Timm (pers. comm. to MJW) clarified this, specifying that Oschmann's last name had not been 'decorated' with an umlaut in his original 1913 discription of this taxon (published in Zoologischer Anzieger, vol. 42, p. 559); Dr. Timm further stated (pers. comm. to MJW) that this misspelling had been accidentally 'created', later in litt. by some inattentive writer, and had been 'loyally' perpetuated, for decades, by many subsequent writers who cited this paper without actually seeing it; see also comment_detail in this database for Potamothrix bedoti (Piguet, 1913)
