Comments: Subtribe Pteromyina. Sciuropterus was previously employed for this genus by Simpson (1945:80); he believed Pteromys to be a synonym of Petaurista, but Ellerman and Morrison-Scott (1951:466) presented evidence for the validity of Pteromys. However, Pteromys may be the sister group to Petaurista (Oshida et al., 2000b)
