Comments: R. leucodactylus section sensu Tribe (1996). Cabrera (1961) identified couesi as a subspecies of R. sclateri. As emphasized by its original describer Thomas (1887b), sclateri closely resembles Peruvian R. leucodactylus, and, in both Venezuela (see Handley, 1976) and Perú, R. couesi and R. leucodactylus are morphologically distinct
