Genus Sibon Fitzinger, 1826 has been variously treated in literature as masculine, feminine, and neuter; as the gender of a variable name should be considered masculine unless the original author implies otherwise (ICZN Art. 30a2), and as Fitzinger treated all the adjectival epithets initially placed in the genus as masculine, masculine is the proper gender assignable to Sibon (Smith, 1982)
