Comments: Subgenus Sorex. Imaizumi (1970b) reported that hosonoi occurs sympatrically with shinto and therefore should be considered as separate species (Corbet, 1978c). Ohdachi et al. (1997a, 2001) demonstrated that the species is genetically related to minutissimus
