In a comment regarding of Synapte syraces (Godman, 1901), Pelham (2008:428) notes "Opler and A. Warren (2002: 10), discussed the uncertainty about which species of Synapte has strayed to Arizona; S. syraces or S. shiva Evans, 1955. This catalogue tentatively treats S. shiva as the species from Arizona, and S. syraces as an extralimital taxon"
