Comments: Rattus Division. Revised by Musser and Heaney (1992), who recorded history of the incorrect inclusion of Tarsomys in Rattus and placed the genus among the Philippine New Endemics. Phylogenetic analyses of complete mtDNA cytochrome b sequences for 13 of the 16 genera of endemic Philippine murines place Tarsomys as sister-taxon to Limnomys, and in a clade with Bullimus and Rattus everetti, which are also New Endemics (Jansa and Heaney, 2001); this alliance and membership in the Rattus Group a...
