Comment:
There appears to be an unresolved homonymy between Thalassiothrix longissima var. antarctica Cleve and Möller, 1878 and Thalassiothris antarctica Schimper ex Karsten, 1905. Van Landingham (1971) indicates that both are accepted. Hasle and Syvertsen (1997) regard the latter as accepted, and make no mention of the former, though they do regard the species T. longissima Cleve and Grunow, 1878 as accepted
