Originally described as Opistocysta corderi by Walter J. Harman (1970 [1969 sic], p. 474), this species was established as the type species for the newly described genus Trieminentia by Harman and Loden (1978, p. 457); this species has been reported only from Florida in North America, and from immature specimens only (Milligan, 1997)
