Lafontaine & Schmidt (2011:158) note that 'The species [previously] known as Xanthopastis timais (Cramer, [1780]) is now recognized as a species complex consisting of at least six species. [...] The name for the species in eastern United States is Xanthopastis regnatrix (type locality: Pennsylvania)'
