Although Tibicenini Van Duzee 1916 is senior to Cryptotympanini Handlirsch 1925, workers who currently treat these as synonymous continue to use Cryptotympanini, despite the priority. The same issue applies at the rank of subtribe, where Cryptotympanina Handlirsch 1925 is used while Tibicenina Van Duzee 1916 would have priority. It is unclear when or how this will be resolved
