Nielsen et al. (2021) do not mention the epithet claudoi or anything similar with author Hoffmann 1965, so it is not clear what they make of it. It appears that Hoffmann coined the name in Neotrombicula, and if so, the authorship should be without parentheses. Light et al. (2020) did not allocate this species to any of the subgenera used by Nielsen et al. (2021)
