Family:Primulaceae
Hardy Cyclamen is a perennial herb with tuberous roots, belonging to the primrose family, and is indigenous to the Mediterranean's woodlands, shrublands, and rocky terrains. This plant is known for its striking flowers and ivy-like foliage, which can be green, silver, or often exhibit variegation. Hardy Cyclamen flowers and produces leaves in the autumn; these leaves persist through the winter, after which the plant enters a dormant phase until summer, when the seed pods mature and disperse.
This species thrives in humus-rich, moist soil and prefers partial shade, although it can adapt to average dry to moist conditions. It grows from corms that should be planted approximately one inch deep, and it is advisable to keep them relatively dry during their dormant period. Hardy Cyclamen is best utilized in clusters within woodland environments, naturalized areas, or alongside shrubs and trees.
