Species:ulmoides
Family:Eucommiaceae
This substantial deciduous rubber tree is straightforward to transplant and thrives in various soil types. It prefers full sunlight and is quite drought-resistant, although it does not fare well with overly wet roots. The tree needs approximately 100 to 200 square feet of space, as it can reach heights of up to 60 feet and widths of 30 to 50 feet. It requires ample room for its roots to spread and serves as an excellent choice for street planting in areas without sidewalks. Additionally, it makes a striking specimen in woodlands or spacious yards. This tree grows slowly and demands minimal maintenance.
The tree has a rounded form, and its leaves fall in the autumn without causing issues at other times of the year. Being a rubber tree, it produces a stringy or waxy sap that may ooze from breaks in the bark, leaves, or small twigs.
