Phonetic Spelling:hem-ee-oh-NYE-tiss LAN-oh-suh

Genus:Hemionitis

Species:lanosa

Family:Pteridaceae

The Hairy Lipfern is a native, deciduous fern that thrives in dry woodlands and rocky outcrops, particularly in the Piedmont and mountainous regions of North Carolina. This drought-resistant plant features dark green fronds that may dry out and curl in arid conditions but will revive with the addition of moisture. Unlike many ferns, it prefers sunnier spots, although it may require extra watering to flourish. To propagate, simply divide the rootball; it will gradually spread through rhizomes.

For optimal growth, plant this fern in well-draining soil, ideally in full sun to partial shade. It can even thrive in wall crevices. Consider using it in rock gardens, containers, or as part of borders and crevices.
