Plant Profile: Muhlenbergia lindheimeri

Muhlenbergia lindheimeri is a perennial bunchgrass that typically grows between 2 to 5 feet tall, characterized by its delicate leaves and a fountain-like appearance. Its blue-green foliage and airy autumn flower clusters enhance the beauty of Texas uplands.

While the leaves remain through winter, most will enter a dormant state. There is no need to trim the grass during the colder months; however, if you choose to do so, it may take longer for the plant to bounce back. To maintain a neat appearance, remove old flower stalks once they become brittle and gently rake the plant with a leaf rake to clear away any dead leaves.
