Genus:Pilosella

Species:paniculata

Family:Asteraceae

Panicled Hawkweed is a wildflower that tends to thrive as a weed, appearing from summer through fall. It commonly grows in a variety of environments, including dry to moist forests, woodlands, and along trails, as well as in disturbed or human-altered areas.

This plant emerges from a caudex, which is a short, persistent stem base located at or just beneath the soil surface. The caudex survives the winter and generates new stems for the following season. Typically, the stems are solitary and bear leaves that extend up to the flowering stage, while they usually have few or no leaves at the base.

Blooming primarily in August, Panicled Hawkweed can also produce flowers from July to October.

In terms of pests and diseases, it is often regarded as a weedy species.
