Hairy Solomon's Seal is a perennial wildflower indigenous to eastern Canada and the United States. It thrives in environments ranging from partial shade to densely shaded woodlands, slopes, or thickets, preferring average to moist, nutrient-rich soils. This species is predominantly found in cove forests. It may be mistaken for P. biflorum; however, it is smaller in size, features hairs on the undersides of its leaves, and typically produces fewer flowers in clusters (ranging from 1 to 3, compared to P. biflorum's clusters of up to 12). Additionally, this plant is sensitive to heat and propagates slowly through rhizomes.
