The New Dawn Climbing Rose, a light pink variety, was developed in 1930 by Somerset Rose Nursery in New Jersey. This robust climber is known for its impressive disease resistance and has received numerous accolades, including recognition as the world's most popular climbing rose. Its delicate pink blooms are not only sweetly fragrant but also feature a semi-double to double formation, blooming profusely in June and continuing to flower throughout the fall. The foliage is a glossy green, while the stems are adorned with prickles, and in the fall, it produces an abundance of rose hips, adding to its visual appeal.
This rose is easy to cultivate, thriving best in fertile, moist, average garden loams with full sun to partial shade. It can be trained to climb on trellises, fences, pergolas, or other vertical structures, reaching heights of up to 15 feet and spreading 8 feet wide. Alternatively, it can be shaped into a bush if preferred.
