The pitcher plant thrives in damp soil, but it does not prefer conditions that are perpetually saturated. Additionally, this plant is sensitive to fertilizers, high chlorine levels in water, and the types of meat typically consumed by humans. Although it is carnivorous, it is unable to digest the meats that people eat.
