The plant develops leaves resembling those of crocuses after its flowering period, which continues into the winter months. It thrives in moist, well-drained soil and benefits from protection against wind, showing good adaptability to clay soil conditions.
When planting, space the bulbs 4 to 6 inches apart, with five bulbs fitting into a 6-inch pot, and bury them to a depth of 5 inches. This bulb is categorized as semi-hardy and may suffer damage if temperatures drop below 28°F (-2°C).
